Staking on root
Root is a special network with the number 0. It has no miners, no alpha and no work of its own.
Staking on root is not a swap. Your TAO stays TAO, so there is no pool, no swap fee and no price impact. You add and remove root stake at face value.
Root stake still earns. Root validators receive a share of the rewards from the other subnets, and root stakers earn a share of that.
So the choice looks like this. Staking on a subnet gives you that subnet's alpha, with its price going up and down, and rewards from that one subnet. Staking on root keeps your principal in TAO and earns from across many subnets, through the validator you choose.
