Commit-reveal

Commit-reveal hides validators' weights until it is too late to copy them.

A validator encrypts its weights and submits them in a locked form. The lock is tied to a future random number published by an outside source called drand. Until drand publishes that number, nobody can read the weights, not even the validator that sent them.

When the number is published, the chain unlocks the weights and applies them automatically. The validator does not need to do anything more.

By the time anyone can see the weights, the moment to copy them has passed.

Most subnets use it. Commit-reveal is on by default, and each subnet's owner can turn it off.
