What is a proxy?

Using your coldkey for every small action is risky. Each time it signs something, it has to be unlocked on a device. A proxy lets you avoid that.

A proxy is a second account that you allow to act for your main account, but only in the ways you choose. Your main account sets it up and can remove it at any time.

There are several kinds. A staking proxy can add, remove and move stake, but it cannot send your TAO to anyone. A transfer proxy can only make transfers. A non-transfer proxy can do almost anything except transfers. An any proxy can do everything your main account can do, so it needs the same care as the main key.
