Recycling and burning

Some TAO leaves circulation. How it leaves matters for the halving.

Recycled TAO is taken out of the total issued, so it can be created again later. Because halvings are triggered by the total issued, recycling pushes the next halving further away.

Burned TAO is gone for good, but it still counts in the total issued. It brings the halving no later and no sooner.

Several everyday costs are recycled. Transaction fees are recycled, and so is the price miners pay to register on a subnet, even though that price is often called a burn.
