What eTAO means for stakers
If you stake alpha behind a validator, your dividends come out of the validators' share of the subnet's rewards. With eTAO that share is no longer the same everywhere. An owner can set it anywhere from just above root's baseline up to 50%, so two subnets can pay validators very differently.
A smaller validator share can simply mean the owner is paying miners more. It also means less for the people staking alpha, so check a subnet's split along with its price and its validators.
An owner can change the split once a week at most, so it cannot flip from block to block. Every subnet started on 18/41/41, and nothing changes until an owner acts.
Root stakers are not affected. Root is paid first, whatever the split.
