Dissolution

When a subnet is removed, everyone who holds its alpha is paid out in TAO. Nothing needs to be done to receive it.

The subnet's pool holds TAO, and that TAO is shared among all of the subnet's alpha in proportion to how much each holder has. The more alpha you hold, the larger your share.

The payout can differ from the price you saw a moment before. It follows the pool's own ratio of TAO to alpha, which can land above or below the market price.

Conviction locks are deleted when the subnet is removed. The stake is paid out like any other, and the conviction you built up is lost. Locking does not protect a subnet from removal.

A subnet at risk of removal is worth watching if you hold its alpha, since the payout, not the price you hoped for, is what you get.
