Setting up Ledger for Crucible Extension

Overview

Secure your TAO by connecting your Ledger hardware wallet to Crucible. Crucible uses the Polkadot app to interface with the Bittensor network.

Prerequisites

• A Ledger Nano X, S Plus, Flex, or Stax.
• Chrome Browser with the Crucible Extension installed.
• Polkadot App installed on your Ledger. (If you haven’t done this yet, see Preparing Your Ledger for Bittensor)

Connecting to Crucible

1. Open Polkadot App: Connect and unlock your Ledger. Navigate to the Polkadot App and open it until the screen says "Polkadot Ready."
2. Initiate Connection: Open the Crucible extension and click Connect Wallet.
3. Grant USB Access: A browser tab will open requesting USB permissions. Click Connect Wallet and select your device from the Chrome pop-up.
4. Name Wallet: Give your wallet a name to finish the setup.

Quick Fixes

• Ledger Live: Ensure the Ledger Live desktop app is closed, as it can block the connection to Chrome.
• Connection Failed: Ensure you are using a data-sync USB cable and the Polkadot app is active on the device screen.
